Adam Gubman, 30, composer and producer for multimedia, freelances to produce scores for videogames, films, and other media applications. Currently, he is a Lead Composer (contractor) for SomaTone Audio Interactive.
Though Gubman credits much of his success to his education and learned skill, his career has taken off through grass roots efforts. By networking and meeting new people in the music industry everyday, Gubman has developed consistent feeder sources for music composition work. This has led to his recent projects including work for Nintendo DS and XBox, Microsoft video games; Flying Lab Studios, Konami, PlayFirst, SomaTone Audio Interactive, BigFish and Next-Gen PC and Mac video games; Disney online games such as trailer work for “Pirates of the Caribbean Online”; Disney cell phone ring tones; and film projects such as “Harrison Montgomery”, and source for films like “First Sunday” (Ice Cube) and “Blonde Ambition” (Jessica Simpson).
Gubman began composing at seven, the same year he started playing piano. At fifteen, he landed his first record deal with a Sony distributed label in Minneapolis. While his high school years were spent writing hundreds of cheesy love songs, he focused on pursuing his career in music production and more serious composition the day he graduated. Gubman went to work for indie record labels and as a producer’s assistant for major motion pic scores and pop records.
After finding his true passion in bettering his composition and production skills, he decided to major in composition and production at California State University, Long Beach. Through the music program at CSULB, Gubman won many awards and scholarships including the 2005-2006 CSULB Composer of the Year and the Stephen Paulus Composition Scholarship. His current output includes musicals (one staged for two summers at the Hudson in Santa Monica), score for various plays, numerous industrials for companies like FOX, independent movies, videogame, arrangements (won a commission for ‘America the Beautiful’, now making its way through the So Cal School circuit), and various concert pieces.
Gubman resides in Ladera Ranch, Calif. with his wife, Allison and daughter, Jane. In his private Orange County studio, Gubman continues to provide quality music production for his various clients.
